Sweet Bell Boy Red Pepper
The best choice for those classic blocky sweet peppers we all know and love. The plants are big and sturdy, growing on strongly through the season to produce generous crops of square-ended fruits with thick, juicy flesh and a mild, sweet flavour. Eat them while they're still green, or leave on the plant to ripen to a scarlet red.
Sweet Pepper Care
Your sweet pepper plants will have been grown indoors with artificial heat and light to make sure they are as healthy as possible for you. This does however mean that you shouldn't put your pepper plants straight outside when it's too cold. The general rule of thumb is to start putting your pepper plants outside for a few hours a day from the middle of May to acclimatise them (bring it in over night or if a late frost looks likely). If your lucky enough to have your own greenhouse you can start planting a couple of weeks earlier, and if its heated, even earlier. Getting a well drained compost will work wonders for pepper plants.
Support with canes and feed fortnightly once flowers appear. Once plants reach about 30cm tall, pinch out the growing tips to increase branching so you get more fruit.
