Bark, is great for covering the top of the soil in pots and borders to help prevent weeds. It also helps to retain soil moisture and temperature, protecting plant roots. Bark can also be used as a barrier to help lessen slug activity as they don't like to travel over the rough surface.
Bark can also used purely for decoration around the garden and planting schemes.
